Rose Garden

The Rose garden at the Benowa Botanic Gardens was designed by the local Rose Society & features various Roses to suit our climate here in Queensland, Australia. I visited the Rose Garden on a very rainy Saturday morning & like I mentioned in last weeks post I had 5 minutes where the rain had stopped pouring to race around & capture some photographs. I havent photographed raindrops with my macro lens, so this was my first attempt. I love this little collection, what do you think? Do you have any tips & tricks for photographing raindrops?

My Sketchbook – Purple Roses

Mum has been saying to me for a few months now she would like me to do a drawing like Blue Roses but in a different colour. I sat down last week & had a play using a similar composition but using my purple Copic Markers instead. This piece isn’t finished but I thought I would share with you a little glimpse of what it looks like so far!

Fantail and Peony

At the moment I have been thinking of adding another element to my artwork. On Sunday morning I worked on this drawing of a Fantail with a Peony behind it. I used my Copic Markers to colour the Peony & drew the Fantail with a black ink pen. This was a little idea I have been thinking about over the last couple of days so I was looking forward to putting my idea on paper to see if I could make it work.

Benowa Botanic Gardens

Last Saturday it was pouring with rain but I was determined to take some more photographs. We sat in the car at the gardens & for 5 minutes the rain stopped. I raced around the gardens with my camera & captured these photographs below, do you know what the name of these flowers are?

My Sketchbook – Doodling

This week I just felt like doodling in my Sketchbook. To make it a bit more interesting I created a watercolour background with purple & blue watercolour & then drew over top with my black pen.

I always draw the same sort of thing when I doodle, do you have the same patterns or things you draw when your doodling?

Flying Bee

This is the very cool Bee that I managed to capture flying! I took so many shots trying to get this photograph & I succeeded! I love its little feet dangling down & seeing it heading straight for the pollen in the flower. What do you think of this photograph? Have you ever captured a flying insect?

A Collage of Leaves

I created this collage using a few photographs of leaves that I have taken over the last few years. I really enjoy grouping photographs by colour or theme.

Today I am heading out to take some more photos – I am unsure exactly where yet but you will see over the next few weeks what I have captured, enjoy your weekend!
